Frankly,
He Preferred Humans

Rescued from a slave market by a human trader and raised as his son, one question has haunted Heyoka Blackeagle through the years: who — and what — is he He feels human, indeed he feels like a somewhat alienated member of his father's tribe. So what if he is seven feet tall, furry, and equipped with retractable claws

Human is as human does....Right

A fascinating read. The alien culture is well fleshed-out. The writer takes the reader down unexpected paths in experiencing the world from the point of view of the alien characters. There's even a writing system based on scents and not a visual one. It's a book you can really sink your teeth into and have it stay with you for a while. I unreservedly give it five stars.

Reminds me of C.J. Cherryh's best alien culture stories. Very good story, suspenseful and satisfying. I can't believe its a 'freebie'.

This Book is very good! Looking thru my library of 1000 or so books for something interesting to reread I rediscovered this one and its sequel and remembered it as one of the first eBooks I read and have not gone back to dead tree ware since.
