Ghost
by John Ringo

This "Ghost" May Not Walk Through Walls,
but Walls had Better Not Get in His Way!
A New Techno-thriller Adventure Series by a
New York Times Best-Selling Author.

Former SEAL Michael Harmon, Team Name "Ghost", retired for service injuries, is not enjoying college life. But things are about to change, if not for the better.

When he sees a kidnapping a series of, at the time logical, decisions leave him shot to ribbons and battling a battalion of Syrian commandos with only the help of three naked co-eds who answer to the names "Bambi," "Thumper" and "Cotton Tail."

A fast-paced, highly-sexual, military-action thriller that ranges from a poison factory in the Mideast to the Florida Keys to Siberia, the novel will keep you guessing what twisted fate will bring next for the man once known as . . . Ghost. Keep an eye on him or . . . poof, he'll be gone.

"John Ringo's done it again! Ghost is a complete adrenaline rush, filled with nonstop, kick ass action and hair-raising suspense."
Richard Marcinko, New York Times best-selling author of Rogue Warrior: Vengeance.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

John Ringo had visited 23 countries and attended 14 schools by the time he graduated high school. This left him with a wonderful appreciation of the oneness of humanity and a permanent aversion to foreign food. He chose to study marine biology and really liked it. Unfortunately the pay was for beans. So he turned to quality control database management, where the pay was much better. His highest hopes were to someday upgrade to SQL Server, at which point, he thought, his life would be complete. But then Fate took a hand: John has become a professional science fiction writer, and is in the early stages of becoming fabulously wealthy, which his publisher has assured him is the common lot of science fiction writers who write for Baen Books. In addition to his own enthusiastically received and New York Times best-selling military SF series—A Hymn Before Battle, Gust Front, When the Devil Dances, and Hell's Faire—he is collaborating with fellow New York Times best-selling author David Weber on a new SF adventure series: March Upcountry, March to the Sea, March to the Stars, and We Few, with more to come.

With his bachelor years spent in the airborne, cave diving, rock-climbing, rappelling, hunting, spear-fishing, and sailing, the author is now happy to let other people risk their necks. He prefers to write science fiction (both alone and in collaboration with David Weber) raise Arabian horses, dandle his kids and watch the grass grow. Someday he may even cut it. But not today. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe he'll just let the horses eat it.

This rating is really for the whole series, tho some stand out more than others its a fun exciting world. I was fascinated by the ratings, they seem to be either 1 star or 5, very few in-between. And the 1-star ratings seem to be mainly people who don't approve of sex. Hmmmm.

Ok book, reminds me of the old newstands dime"books". But aimed for the military/"adult" group. But that said I enjoyed the read and hope Ringo continues to provide.

So Don Pendleton and John D. MacDonald walk into a bar, where they find Ted Mark, Richard Sapir and Warren Murphy talking about the old alt.sex.stories USENet newsgroup... The material is often challenging, the protagonist worthy of disgust and the plots are real potboilers. On the other hand, it's a fine successor to the writing that came before it. Most importantly, it's a damn good read.

For all of those who say that they are never going to buy another John Ringo book becaues of this one (and/or this series) remeber that he couldn't get it out of his head until he wrote it, that the Barflies convinced him to publish it, and Jim Baen threw a fit when he found out he was going anywhere else with it. This is the universe that his dark side gets to play in. If you happen to like that, great, if you don't, just stay out of these books, and read Princess of Wands or something.

Thsi is not SF, nor uchrony, but only hardcore sex Usually, I am fond of J. Ringo books but in this case, good people are all white, bad people are all balck. Only the hero is a good one and a rapist !!!!

Arrgh! I can't stand it! No this is not SF or Fantasy! But why does Ringo have to only write SF or Fantasy? He's a good author, no matter what genre he writes in. And yes, it's somewhere between soft and hard core porn. If that's not your cup of tea, don't read it! But if you're looking for high action, macho style adventure (and male fantasy!), with a walk on the dark side of human nature, then you'll love this book. And for those of you complaining that kids have access to these books, have you looked at the "Romance" section lately? Stories Online and asstr.org have nothing on some of the stuff being published and on bookshelves these days. Again, if you don't like it, don't read it. But don't knock a great author, and a great story because your mores don't match his. Or mine.

Normally I like Ringo's stuff, but I'm reading for the military stuff, not the sex. There were some good action scenes but, as I read the book, I had to tab past chapters worth of lectures on the general theory of S&M. I never thought the sex stuff could make me yawn. If you want military stuff, go for the Aldenata stuff. If you're looking for porn, well, there are more talented writers for that too.

Best Book I've read in 2008, that is until I got the rest of the series. Unto the Breach is brilliant. Wish this was in the free library for anyone to enjoy
